Skin treatments
Some favorite skin treatments are a technique that uses glycolic acid.
These “fruity acid” treatments smooth the skin of people
of all ages. Glycolic acid seems to work best on those with tough, sun-damaged
skin. Occasionally, it is used in conjunction with bleaching chemicals
to correct uneven pigmentation.
Effective prescription skin treatments use Retin-A. It is most effective
in older people who have fine facial wrinkles or splotchy pigmented
areas on the skin caused by sun damage. It is also used by younger people
to counteract the aging effects of sun exposure. Retin-A will thin the
stratum corneum, the outermost layer of the skin, and ready the skin
for an acid facial peel.
Skin treatments should only be undertaken by dermatologists and certified
estheticians. Don’t let someone put anything on your face without
knowing they know what they’re doing.
